Products: Solar & Gas Hot Water Systems With the news that electric hot water systems will be phased out in new and existing homes with access to reticulated natural gas in 2010, and as installations in all existing homes by 2012, now has never been a better time to invest in an energy efficient hot water system. There are a few options to consider when choosing an environmentally friendly hot water system;   • Heat pumps • Solar Hot Water • Instantaneous gas     Heat Pumps Heat pumps work like a refrigerator in reverse. They absorb heat from the air and transfer it to the water. Heat pumps work when the sun is not shining as the refrigerant can absorb heat from the ambient air. Heat Pumps do use electricity however they are extremely efficient and can run all day without the need for a booster or back-up system. Ideal if you do not have a north facing roof (for solar panels).   Solar Hot Water Solar hot water systems are an excellent way to dramatically reduce your greenhouse gas emissions. Solar hot water works by using solar panels or collectors to absorb energy from the sun. The water is then heated by the sun as it passes through the collectors and into an insulated tank for future use.   Instantaneous Gas Instantaneous gas hot water systems work on a heat-as-you-go basis and therefore do not run out of hot water.
